Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP)

Shared Parental Leave
If you and your partner are considering Shared Parental Leave (SPL), please let us know as soon as possible so we can provide you with the necessary information and forms.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How much paternity leave are employees entitled to?
- Eligible employees can take 1 or 2 weeks' paternity leave (not individual days). Leave must be taken in a single block within 56 days of the birth or adoption placement. From April 2024, two separate weeks can be taken at different times within the 52-week period.
- When must employees notify us of paternity leave?
- By the end of the 15th week before the expected week of childbirth (or within 7 days of being matched with a child for adoption). They must tell you when they want the leave to start, but can change this with 28 days' notice.
- Who is eligible for Statutory Paternity Pay?
